Reference points for parking and play areas
Prodotto contributed to the redesign of an old historical industrial site into a multi-purpose public space. We created visual reference points for sports grounds, playgrounds, event areas and parking lots.
Challenge
Spoor Oost was an 100.000 m² abandoned container rail terminal. We were asked by AG Vespa to design a modular flagpole system to create reference points for people visiting this new but greyish multi purpose space in different settings (parking lot, sport events, festivals, etc.)
Approach
We decided to come up with a colourful flagpole design that fits the historical character of the area. We also decided to reuse concrete pavements blocks that needed to be dismantled in order to create flat parking area's.
Result
We developed a unique lightweight windmill system that fits on every standard flagpole and rotates frictionless at any gust. The result being a colour- and playful landscape of rotating mills in this windy, greyish industrial area.
From A-Z
We worked on this project from start to finish. We won a first concept pitch and after approval we detailed the design, we sourced the right manufacturers and managed the installation on site. After 5 years they are still up and running! See the installation video below!
The new landscape attracts artists!
Benoit Do Quang aka A$ian Rocky is a video artist. His music videos have put Brussels’s hip-hop scene on the map and is becoming a visual sounding board for the entire Belgian pop scene. He has worked for 'Roméo Elvis', 'Angèle' and many other bands. He also directed the music video and album artwork for Blackwave's latest album 'Big Dreams'. The new landscape we created was the perfect setting for this music video. Check out the results below!
